It’s about balance this Christmas season
My advice is try and stay active, but ultimately, Christmas is a little break for us all.
"I don't even recognize the person that I was a year and a half ago. When I see photos, I feel really sad, because I lost out on a lot of time, being depressed and anxious.
Eating healthily and exercising has helped me cope with those feelings. I was unhappy with the way I felt, the way I looked and I knew that moving more and eating better would make me feel better, but I just didn't have the energy or the impetus, before the app, to actually do anything. It was the thing that kind of drove me to actually change my life.
I was about 15 stone when I started, so it was hard and I hadn't done anything for a long time. What's really good is that every time you press play, you see yourself getting better, so that really helped motivate me. I started because I was really unhappy with a lot of things about my life. My weight, not doing anything, and I wanted to get back into being active and eating well and I wanted to feel better.
A lot of takeaways, a lot of drinking and no - absolutely no exercise. I started adding like running into my exercise regime as well - I absolutely love running because it's - again you see yourself getting better every time you go for a run. Now, I like to run along the river because it's really beautiful.
I have said I'm going to run a marathon this year. I always thought, yeah it will never happen, like it's a pipe dream, but now I've run a half marathon and I know it's possible.
This has shown me that I am capable of anything, if I work hard enough and I try. Like that's the most important thing it's just like waking up every day and actually trying.
I mean, anxiety and depression for me will probably never go away, but these are two tools that have meant that I can cope. If I feel anxious, I'll do a workout, I'll go for a run and then I know I've accomplished something with my day. I look back on my life before and I didn't have that and I would just spend the day feeling rubbish, not being able to sleep and then repeating the cycle. It's yeah, changed my life in all extremely positive ways."
