Healthy food doesn't have to be boring. In fact, it can be delicious, fuel your body, keep you full, and even get you enjoying cooking.
We wanted to share some of the banging meals people on The Body Coach app eat every day to show it's not just light meals and salads.
We spoke top Sarah Smith, 52, a mum-of-two who joined the app in March 2024. "I wanted to find a sustainable plan to avoid illness and fuel myself properly, something 'easy' that I could follow and just press play," she says.
"The food definitely surprised me! I had lost interest in cooking, my husband did it all and you could tell the day of the week by our menu plan! Now I do all the cooking and love it.
"I frequently try new recipes each week, have a huge variety of ingredients and have really expanded our repertoire. I love encouraging my children to also try new flavours and set an example for prioritising our health through wholesome food choices and regular exercise."
"Generally I prep for lunches and snacks on Sundays and menu plan one evening per week the day before our shopping delivery," says Sarah. "I actually look forward to planning new meals! I have a good routine during the week and this has helped me a lot with organising meal prep after I do a workout after work.
"I also have some ‘go to favourite’ meals that I can cook without needing to review the recipe and slot those in when I know I’ll be short on time - Linguine with Prawns and Broccoli is one of them! Super quick, easy and tasty."
"I love fish so we regularly have salmon and prawn dishes," says Sarah. "I love the slow cooker recipes as they are easy to prepare and you can increase the size for extra portions for lunch or the freezer.
"I also love the smoothies for weekday breakfasts as they are easy, quick and taste great! I hate bananas so never enjoyed smoothies but there are loads of recipes without bananas so I’ve found a love for smoothies for sure now."
"Variety, wholesome, easy to follow, always turn out well (rarely have any disasters!) and good value," says Sarah. "Every week is different and I love trying new things!
"Organisation is key! I want to eat healthy, nutritious food now so prioritise the planning and prep. I prefer to make the effort to prepare a homemade curry than get a takeaway as it tastes so much better."
